Project Construction Timeline & Logistics Update
The demolition of the existing Blakeley Village and Laurel Village buildings is scheduled to begin on Early November 2025, with overall construction completion anticipated for Summer 2028.
This redevelopment will bring new University of Washington-affiliated student housing, enhanced open spaces, and improved neighborhood connections.
Throughout the construction period, our team is committed to maintaining open communication with the surrounding community and being a responsible neighbor throughout the construction process.. Neighbors directly adjacent to the site will receive advance notices of key construction phases, and regular updates will be shared via this website and email.
While we work to minimize disruption, please note that construction activities may generate noise, dust, and traffic adjustments at times. All work will be conducted within permitted city hours and safety guidelines.
If you have any questions or would like to be added to our neighborhood update list, please contact us at info@greystarseattleoutreach.com
Monthly Construction Bulletins
We’ll distribute monthly updates to nearby residents, businesses, and institutions within a one-block radius. These bulletins will include:
General construction updates
Notices for sidewalk/street closures
Noise/work hour variances
Special Notices for Unusual Activity
At least 72 hours in advance, we will issue special alerts for impactful events such as:
Street closures
Detours
Off-hours or noisy work
24-Hour Emergency Contact
A dedicated emergency hotline will be available throughout the project. Staff will respond during construction hours; after-hours calls will be handled by an answering service with follow-up the next business day.
Advance Notifications
We will provide at least 10 business days’ notice to adjacent residents, businesses, and the City of Seattle for:
Project start
Work outside standard hours
Significant street/sidewalk impacts
A project sign will also be posted on-site with key contact info and schedule details.
Coordination with the City
Tree protection will be coordinated with Urban Forestry 3+ weeks in advance.
We will work with SDOT to avoid conflicts with local special events and ensure haul routes remain efficient.
Impacts to bike infrastructure will be communicated via local platforms like the Seattle Bike Blog.
Noise & Work Hour Mitigation
Weekday hours: 8AM–5PM (impact work only during this window)
Saturday hours: 9AM–4PM
No Sunday work, unless an emergency
For any off-hours work, Greystar will seek approval and notify neighbors in advance.
We’ll use modern noise-reduction technologies (e.g., ambient-sensitive alarms) and implement noise barriers as needed. Construction crews are expected to minimize disruptions at all times.
Right-of-Way (ROW) Use & Permits
All work in the public right-of-way will comply with SDOT permitting and notification requirements.
Greystar will maintain 24/7 pedestrian access around the site per city regulations.
Any deviation from approved ROW impacts will be reported and resubmitted to SDOT as needed.
Construction Parking & Transit
All construction parking and activities will occur onsite.
Workers will be encouraged to use public transit.
No street parking will be permitted for subcontractors.
Stormwater & Erosion Control
Construction will follow the 2021 Seattle Stormwater Manual, using sediment tanks and drainage controls to protect public systems and natural resources.
Existing trees will be protected under supervision of an arborist, and no work will occur within their dripline without oversight.
